All happened on a rainy day of October 08. Jean-Michel and I had just
finished a meeting. Debriefing in a bar, drinking hot coffees, brainstorming
about new business models opportunities. It's the beginning of the sub-primes
crisis, car manufacturers are on their way to chapter 11, real estate market is
bearish. It's sure: it's the right time for changing the game and scoring some
bargains. As we are both good story tellers, here we are both speaking about
our experience of negotiation as buyers. The bangkok night market, the souk of
Marrakech or more simply the car dealer next door. We had great
stories!
It's a fact, the one who's got the money and the willing to buy has nowadays
the power. I can strongly say "This is my last price! Take it or leave it!"
This is the idea. Let's offer a media where you, me can post some "buying
intends" with this motto. Sellers will be free to accept if it sounds
reasonable.
A few minutes later we had determined the business model, the key success
factors and the value proposition. Tricky point is that our clients are the
ones who sell. It's kind of awkward, but we can deal with it :) Yes indeed, we
will be a lead generator. Not speaking about poorly qualified leads but real,
strong, close to signing leads. It is so true we are convince of the model that
we even offer to reimburse the sale guy if unfortunately he does not sign the
deal. We share the risk. For the Seller it's a zero risk
approach...powerful!!!
So as to sum up:
For the buyer: "MyLastPrice gives
the opportunity to buy at the best price… without effort"
For the seller: "MyLastPrice, it's
hot prospects, hyper qualified, ready to sign...without risk"
From that point...All we needed was a strong execution of the idea...But
that's another story.
